Central Michigan Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, will use PDA-based bar coding technology to enhance patient safety. They will use the vendor's wCareMed software which offers medication administration, allergy warnings and safety alerts; the ability to verify and label lab specimens,to record vital signs and other patient care information, to present a consolidated view of patient data, and to enable point-of-care billing for supplies and inventory control. Caregivers use PDAs loaded with the applications to scan a bar coded specimen or patient wristband.
